The Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra’s mission is to provide the best possible performances of great music for the widest possible audience, and provide musical education for the young people of Kern County. The orchestra is a professional orchestra consisting of 60 to 80 members, 90% of whom reside and work in Bakersfield. Maestro John Farrer is in his 38th year as Musical Director of the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra and his final year will be the 2013-2014 season. He has had an incredible influence in developing the quality and expertise of a first class orchestra.
