Maxim Eshkenazy

Hills Outlook, Maxim Eshkenazy is a conductor with “vigor and
intelligence…” who conducts with “complete assuredness and insight
beyond his years…”
Also characterized by Mark Swed as a “charismatic and exciting” conductor by
the Los Angeles Times, Mr. Eshkenazy began his career at the age of five
studying violin with his father, a distinguished member of the Sofia
Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria.
After completing his undergraduate education at the Sofia Conservatory, Mr.
Eshkenazy moved to the United States to pursue a double Master of Music degree
in Conducting and Violin Performance at the University of Southern California,
one of the world’s most prestigious music schools.
A rising star of exceptional caliber, Mr. Eshkenazy is in great demand
throughout the United States and Europe as both conductor and violinist.
His conducting appointments have included Music Director of the Bakersfield
Youth Orchestra, Music Director of the Pasadena Youth Symphony, Music Director
of the Music of Changes Chamber Orchestra, Guest Conductor of the Sofia
Philharmonic, Principal Guest Conductor of the Sliven State Orchestra
(Bulgaria), Assistant Conductor of the American Youth Symphony, and Assistant
Conductor of the Herbert Zipper Chamber Orchestra. Committed to the promotion of
new music, Mr. Eshkenazy is regularly involved in performing the music of
twentieth and twenty-first century composers.
An alumnus of several world-class conducting schools and workshops including the
Pierre Monteux School in Maine, Mr. Eshkenazy was awarded a coveted
Conductor’s Fellowship to the newly established American Academy of Conducting
at the Aspen Music Festival in the summer of 2000.
An avid sportsman and licensed pilot, Mr. Eshkenazy makes his home in Southern
California.
